I'm always making homemade spice mix and creating my own spices and seasonings. This is not just because i make and sell spices (I make and sell spices on my other site K's Cuisine) but because i love making my own and being creative with them plus nothing beats homemade spice mix. Infact, my first post on this blog was Homemade curry powder. That's how much i believe in homemade seasoning and spices.

What is Italian seasoning
Italian seasoning is a mix of dried herbs used to flavour Italian dishes. These herbs include atleast oregano, basil and rosemary. Additional ingredients can be added to the mix. Italian seasoning can be used in tomato sauces, pizzas, breads, meatballs, Italian dressings and more.
Ingredients for Italian seasoning
Italian seasoning ingredients range from 3 - 10 ingredients and varies from brand to brand. For my homemade Italian seasoning recipe, the ingredients are:
Basil - good source of magnesium and has anti inflammatory properties.
Marjoram - unique herb in the mint family similar to oregano but with milder flavour. Has anti oxidant and anti inflammatory properties.
Thyme - highly aromatic with gentle flavour that goes well with many dishes.
Oregano - woody flavourful herb great in tomato sauces and meat.
Rosemary - intensely fragrant herb
What else can i add in my Italian seasoning
Crushed Chilli
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Sage
Parsley
I prefer to use just 5 ingredients (Oregano, basil, rosemary, marjoram and thyme) in my Italian seasoning then add the optional ingredients in dishes where i deem fit.
