Ingredients
You will need 9 ingredients to make this peri peri seasoning and they are everyday spices that are inexpensive and you most likely have in your kitchen cupboard. Here's the list of what piri piri seasoning is made of:
Paprika
Onion granules or powder
Garlic powder or granules
Ginger powder
Coriander
Oregano
Birds eye chili - Substitute with dried Thai Chilli, or cayenne pepper.
Sugar
Cardamon
How to Make Peri Peri Seasoning
Dry a bowl, measuring spoon, spice container, and any other mixing tool you'll be using.
Measure out all the ingredients.
Add them to the bowl and mix till well combined. I suggest you mix for a minute at least to make sure the ingredients are well combined.
It is not necessary however you can blend the mix in a dry mill if you'd like. This will ensure the spice mix are thoroughly combined and also give a smoother blend.
Pour in an airtight container or spice jar and It's ready to use.
How to Use Peri Peri Seasoning
Chicken - Peri Peri is the perfect seasoning for chicken. Dry rub on chicken or mix with a bit of olive oil to marinate the chicken. It can be used on spatchcock chicken, chicken legs, chicken breast, wings, and thighs.
Steak - The spices and herbs used for it go well with steak therefore it will make a great tasting steak like this air fryer steak or instant pot steak.
Vegetables - Use to season vegetables like Mediterranean roasted vegetables, boiled carrots, or sauteed vegetables.
Fish - It goes well on fish. Use to season fish like this instant pot fish and air fryer cod.
Dips - Mix in mayonnaise to make a quick and tasty dip for fries, in marinara or tomato sauce.
You can also useon fries, and in spicy rice.
How to Store
Pour in an airtight container or spice jar. Label with name and dates then store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight.
Dry rub will last 6 months or longer.
It's best to go with the expiry date of the ingredients used. So, if the paprika used has the shortest expiry date and expires in 7 months, the spice mix expiry date will be 7 months.
