    This chicken wing marinade recipe is easy, simple, and quick to make taking just about 5 minutes to put together.

    If you are looking for chicken wings marinade for grilling, baking, or frying, this is the one for flavorful, juicy, moist, tender wings.

    It can be used on other types of poultry like turkey, cornish hens, and ducks. It stores well in the fridge and in the freezer and can be made ahead.

    Garlic granules

    Onion granules

    Parsley

    Black pepper

    Thyme

    Cumin

    Soy sauce

    Lemon juice

    Olive oil

    How To Make Chicken Wings Marinade

    Measure out Paprika, garlic granules, onion granules, parsley, thyme, cumin, black pepper, soy sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, and olive oil into a clean bowl.

    Mix till all are well combined.

    This recipe makes enough for 2lb chicken wings. It can be doubled or tripled.

    How To Marinate Chicken Wings

    If you have whole wings and prefer to cut them in drummettes, flats, and tips before marinating, do this by using a sharp knife or kitchen scissors to cut the wings into drummettes, flats, and wing tips. You can discard the wing tips if you wish.

    Clean the wings and pat them dry with paper towels.

    Add them into a bowl or Ziploc.

    Add the marinade to the bowl and rub on the wings covering all in the marinade.

    Cover the bowl and put it in the fridge to marinate for at least 30 minutes.

    Bring out the chicken, and cook as desired.

    Discard any uncooked marinade that has come in contact with the chicken.

    How Long To Marinate Chicken Wings

    How long to marinate chicken wings depends on the time you have before having to cook them. It can be marinated for as little as 30 minutes up to 12 hours. The longer it's marinated, the more it absorbs the flavors of the marinade and tenderizes.

    It is best when marinated for 4 to 12 hours. 

    Don't marinate for too long because the acidity from the lemon can break down the meat too much and make it mushy and the meat tough when cooked.

    If marinating chicken wings overnight, don't let it exceed or you can leave the lemon out.

    Marinated Chicken Wings

    Marinated chicken wings can be cooked on the stove, air fried, baked, broiled, grilled, or cooked as desired.

    After marinating wings, bring them out of the fridge, allow them to come to room temperature, and follow one of the cooking methods below:

    Cook it in the oven: Preheat the oven to a temperature of 400F/200C.
    Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
    Arrange the marinated wings on the lined baking tray in a single layer leaving spaces between them.
    Bake for 35-40 minutes or until they are tender inside and golden brown outer. Turn the wings halfway through cooking to brown all sides.

    To cook it in the Air Fryer- Arrange marinated wings in the air fryer basket in a single layer, and air fry at a temperature of 390F/190C for 22 minutes. Turning the wings halfway through.

    It is cooked when the internal temperature reaches at least 165F/74C when checked with an instant meat thermometer. Wings should be tender inside and the skin golden brown.

    How To Store

    Storing the marinade: Transfer the marinade into a sealable container, label it, then store it in the fridge where it will store well for up to 48 hours, or store it in the freezer for up to 3 months.

    To store marinated wings: Transfer the wings into a Ziploc then label it with name and dates, and place the bag in the freezer where it will keep well for up to 3 months. When ready to cook, bring it out and thaw before cooking or cook it from frozen.

    Tips

    • For best results marinate for 4 hours.
    • If you have leftovers, you can make the marinade into a sauce by pouring it into a saucepan and bringing it to a boil then add cornflour slurry to thicken it. The sauce can be used on cooked wings to make them sticky.
    • Make it as spicy as much as you like by adjusting the pepper quantity.
    • The marinade can be made and stored ahead.
    • Marinated chicken wings can be frozen and cooked from frozen when required.
    • If wings are frozen, it's best to thaw before marinating them.
