Making home fries in air fryer is the way to go! It requires minimal preparation, requires no boiling and you get perfectly cooked ones. Also no need to microwave the potatoes at all. The cooking is all done in the air fryer only.
Potatoes are versatile and make the perfect side dish for chicken, beef, lamb, fish, sausages, and other vegetables. So many options of what you can serve them with!
This air fried home fries is family-friendly, budget friendly, and can be made ahead as it stores and reheats well.
Only a handful of ingredients are used to make this air fryer American fries and they are natural healthy ingredients. The potatoes are seasoned with garlic, smoked paprika, black pepper, rosemary, and salt. You can use any other seasoning of your choice like cajun, lemon pepper seasoning, or all purpose seasoning.
You can adjust the seasoning to your taste. Prefer more pepper? Add it or switch the seaonings.
It uses less oil in making it in the air fryer which makes it healthier than frying it in a skillet.
I made this in my 5.5l Cosori basket type air fryer and I have also made it many times in my Probreeze 5.5l air fryer.

Ingredients
Potatoes- Maris piper, Russet potatoes, red potatoes, King Edwards are good ones to use.
Bell Pepper - Red bell pepper or you can use half red, and half green to add more color.
Onion- I used brown onion. You can use yellow onion, white onion or any good one.
Garlic powder
Smoked paprika
Black pepper
Parsley (Optional)
Rosemary (optional)
Salt
Oil- I use vegetable or sunflower oil. A little goes a long way. You only need 1-2 tablespoons. Don't skip out on the oil as it helps the potatoes crisp up.
How To Make Home Fries In Air Fryer
Peel the potatoes, dice them into 1 inch cubes, rinse and pat dry with paper towels.
Dice the bell pepper and onion into similar size cubes.
Add the potatoes, bell peppers, and onions into a bowl then add garlic powder, smoked paprika, parsley, oregano, black pepper, salt, and oil.
Mix till all are well combined.
Transfer the seasoned potatoes and peppers to the air fryer basket. Don't crowd the air fryer basket.
Air fry the potatoes at a temperature of 380F/190C for 20 minutes. Shake the basket every 6 minutes so they cook and crisp evenly.
Bring out the air fryer basket and serve home fries.
How Long To Cook Home Fries In Air Fryer
This depends on the thickness of the potatoes and the temperature of the air fryer. With this recipe, the potatoes were cut into 1 inch cubes and were air fried at a temperature of 380F/190C so how long to cook home fries in the air fryer at that temperature is 20-25 minutes.
If cooking the potatoes from frozen, add 3-5 minutes more.
Also, if using chunkier potatoes, you might have to add additional minutes to the cooking time.
Home fries are cooked when the inside is fluffy and the outer is crispy.
What To Serve With Home Fries
They are versatile and can be served not just for breakfast but also for brunch, and dinner. Some sides that go well with it are:

How To Store and Reheat
Leftovers can be refrigerated. To store, let them cool completely, then pack in a sealable container or Ziploc then store in the fridge where they will keep well for 3 days, or label and store in the freezer where they will be preserved for 3-6 months.
They can be reheated in the air fryer or oven.
To reheat in the air fryer- Remove all packaging, then transfer the potatoes to the air fryer basket. Set the air fryer basket to 170C/360F and air fry the potatoes for 3-4 minutes or till they are heated.

- No need to soak the potatoes.
- Cut the potatoes into similar sizes. The bigger the potato cubes, the longer time it takes to cook. These were cut into about ½-inch cubes.
- You can add green bell pepper for more color.
- Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket or tray. If cooking more than the air fryer can fit at a go, then cook them in batches.
- Shake the air fryer basket every 6 minutes so the fries cook and crisp up evenly.
- Adjust the spices and salt to your taste. To make it spicier, you can add a bit of cayenne pepper.
- Air fryer model, size, and wattage play a role in determining the cooking time so you might have to adjust the recommended time accordingly. If trying a recipe for the first time, check for doneness at the lower end of the recommended cooking time.
