    How To Cook Sausage In The Oven

    Here's a step by step instructions on how to cook sausage in the oven:

    Preheat the oven at a temperature of 400F/200C (180C fan oven).

    Remove the sausages from the packaging.

    Arrange the sausages on a baking tray in a single layer leaving space between them.

    You can line the baking tray with parchment paper for easier clean-up.

    Place the baking tray in the oven and bake at a temperature of 200C/400F (180C fan) for 30-35 minutes flipping the sides halfway through cooking.

    Bring out the baking tray, rest the sausages for 5 minutes then serve.

    How To Cook Frozen Sausages 

    Frozen sausages can be cooked in the oven but it requires a longer time to cook frozen sausage than cooking from chilled. 

    To bake frozen sausages, take them out from the packet or packaging.

    If they are stuck together, separate them into individual pieces. You can do this by running them under the tap.

    Arrange the sausages on a baking tray and place the baking tray in the oven.

    Bake at a temperature of 190C/375F for 40 minutes or until well cooked flipping the sides halfway through cooking.

    Bring out the baking tray, rest the sausages for 5 minutes then serve.

    How Long To Cook Sausage In The Oven

    This is based on what type of sausage, the thickness, and the method of cooking:

    How long to cook sausages in the oven at a temperature of 200C/400F is 30 minutes.

    How long to bake sausages at 350F is 35-40 minutes.

    For frozen sausage, add additional 5-10 minutes to the cooking time.

    To cook sausages on the stove will take any time between 15 - 30 minutes.

    How long to cook Italian sausages - Italian sausages are thicker than regular sausages so they take longer to cook. It will take between 30-40 minutes to bake in the oven.

    When cooked, the internal temperature of sausage when checked with an instant thermometer should be at least 160F. That is when it is safe to eat although It can reach up to 180F.

    To store in the fridge - Leave sausages to cool then put them in an airtight container or Ziploc before putting them in the fridge. It will keep fresh for up to 5 days in the fridge so consume within this period.

    Store in the freezer - When the sausages are cooled, put them in an airtight container or freezer bag, and label with name and dates before putting in the freezer where it will last for up to 6 months.

    Reheating Sausages - You can reheat from chilled or frozen in the oven, microwave, or air fryer.

    To reheat in the microwave, place sausages in a microwave-safe bowl then heat on high settings at 30-second intervals until they are warmed through.
