Ground chicken with pasta recipe is stress free and requires just a few simple steps to make it. It is quick and you can get it on the table in 30 minutes or less making it a perfect choice for when you need a classic, tasty weeknight meal.
I like using short hollow pasta for this pasta with ground chicken dish as they tend to suck in and coat well in the sauce. Bliss! I have used penne for this post however you can use rigatoni pasta or any other short pasta. Long pasta works well as well.
This is a healthy tomato based mince chicken pasta that is high in nutrients and is rich in protein from the minced chicken. It uses clean simple ingredients. It is a filling and comforting main meal that can be served on its own or add some sides of veggies or garlic bread for a complete meal.
Ground chicken also known as minced chicken is easily available in stores, It is inexpensive and if you have boneless chicken breast or thighs you can simply make your own mince chicken at home. It's an easy quick process.

Ingredients
The ingredients for making this easy tomato ground chicken pasta are listed below. The detailed ingredient list, measurements, and directions are in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.
Ground chicken- This is also known as minced chicken. It is available in stores or you can make your own minced chicken at home.
Pasta- I used penne pasta but you can use rigatoni, fusilli, or any pasta of your choice. I like using short pasta for this recipe.
Tomato paste
Canned chopped tomatoes or passata.
Onion
Garlic
Italian Seasoning or Spaghetti seasoning- Use storebought or homemade. Recipe for homemade Italian seasoning and for Spaghetti seasoning.
Smoked paprika
Black Pepper
Olive oil
Salt
Parmesan- Optional
How To Cook Ground Chicken Pasta
Make the ground chicken sauce- Place a large skillet on medium heat then add in olive oil. Add in the chopped onions and saute it for 1-2 minutes until it's soft and translucent then add in the chopped garlic. Cook the garlic for 30 seconds to 1 minute till it releases its fragrance.
Add in the ground chicken then brown the chicken and break it down into pieces with the spoon.
When the ground chicken is no longer pink, add in the passata, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, paprika, black pepper, and salt.
Stir and let it simmer on low heat for 5-10 minutes.
Cook the pasta- While cooking the sauce, In another pot, boil the pasta by adding water to a deep pot then bring it to a boil. When the water is boiling, add salt and pasta then stir. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until it's aldente.
Reserve a cup of pasta water and drain the pasta. Set aside.
Combine ground chicken sauce with pasta- When the ground chicken sauce is cooked and thickened, add ¼ cup of the pasta water (add more if need be) and parmesan, stir, and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Add in the cooked pasta.
Stir till all is well combined then take off the heat.
Serve and enjoy.

It is a main meal that is rich and filling however you can serve it with other dishes such as
Air fryer Vegetables, Mediterranean roasted vegetables, pan fried broccoli, boiled Zucchini, roasted carrots, and Corn on the cob.

How To Store
When the pasta is completely cooled, pack it in an airtight container, label it then store it in the fridge for up to 3 days.
If you want it stored for longer, then store it in the freezer where it will keep well for up to 3 months.
Reheat ground chicken pasta in the microwave or on the stovetop.
To reheat in a pan on the stove- Add the pasta to a pan then splash in some water, and cook on low heat till the pasta is heated through.
To reheat in the microwave- Add the pasta on a microwave-safe plate, sprinkle with water, cover, and reheat in the microwave at high-speed settings for 1 minute then at 30-second intervals afterward until it's heated through.
Tips For Making Ground Chicken With Pasta
- You can add heavy cream to the sauce if you prefer.
- If need be, add a half teaspoon of sugar to the tomato sauce to balance the acidity.
- Pasta water gives the pasta a silky texture so don't forget to reserve some to use.
- You can garnish the dish with fresh basil or parsley leaves
- This dish is best served warm.
- Make it cheesy by serving with parmesan grated on top.

Yes, you can use ground turkey. It is similar in taste and appearance to the chicken version. Simply follow the same directions as described in the recipe.
