INGREDIENTS FOR INSTANT POT SALMON
For this recipe, you will need these few ingredients (full ingredient list and directions in the recipe card at the bottom of this post).
Salmon - Fresh or frozen fillets
Italian seasoning - or Oregano, basil, thyme and rosemary. If you'd like to make homemade Italian seasoning, check my post on how to make Italian seasoning.
Black pepper or Cayenne pepper
Paprika
Salt
Olive oil
Lemon
HOW TO COOK INSTANT POT SALMON
Slice the whole lemon in thin slices and set aside.
Mix oil, paprika, Italian seasoning, black pepper and salt together to form the marinade.
Rub fresh or frozen salmon fillets with the marinade ensuring all parts are well covered.
Pour water in the pot of the instant pot pressure cooker, then place trivet in the pot.
Arrange marinated salmon fillets in single layer on the trivet then place lemon slices on them. Make sure the lemon slices are equally distributed on them.
Close the instant pot with it's lid and turn the vent to sealing position. Set to manual pressure cook high and after the cook time, do a quick release.
When the IP is depressurised and safe to open, take off the lid and take out the cooked salmon fillets.
Serve and enjoy.

INSTANT POT SALMON COOK TIME
Cooking from fresh takes 3 minutes pressure cook on high then quick release and cooking salmon in the instant pot from frozen takes 5 minutes manual pressure cook on high then quick release. Note that it takes about 10 minutes for instant pot to come to pressure.
DO I HAVE TO THAW SALMON BEFORE COOKING IN INSTANT POT
No need to thaw. You can cook frozen salmon in the pressure cooker without first thawing. Follow the cooking instructions as detailed in the recipe card below.
HOW TO KNOW IF SALMON IS COOKED
Salmon will change to opaque (pink) as it cooks and it will gently flake when you press it gently with your finger. If in doubt, insert tip of a knife in the salmon so you can see the inside. If it's dark pink, it needs to be cooked some more. Still not sure? the easiest way to determine doneness is by checking with a meat thermomether. The inner temperature should be above 125F.

- 1 teaspoon Paprika

- 1 whole Lemon sliced

- 1 cup Water
Instructions
