    Beef tips are tender cuts or trimmings of meat cut from steak or roasts. Types of tips include sirloin tips which are trimmed from the tail of sirloin roasts and steak, and tenderloin tips which are cut from the backbone at the top of loins. They can also be cut from other parts like flanks.

    Beef tips are different to stew beef. Tips are more fatty and flavourful than stew beef, they are also more tender.

    Tips part of beef are commonly used in beef stroganoff, kabobs, soups, and beef tips and gravy which I will show you in this post.

    Instant Pot Beef Tips Recipe

    This instant pot beef tips and gravy is succulent, flavorful, rich, and delicious, and cooks in 20 minutes. Like my instant pot steak recipe, it's so simple and easy to cook that you can't go wrong with it if you follow directions.

    It's a one-pot recipe which means fewer utensils to clean.

    This instant pot beef tips recipe is simple yet you get tasty dish that is flavor packed and better than restaurant quality.

    It is healthy and makes use of clean simple ingredients. You control the amount of salt and pepper and can customize it to your taste.

    Only a few basic ingredients are used in this recipe and they are pantry ingredients that are accessible and affordable.

    Serve on mashed potatoes, instant pot brown rice, or any side of your choice for a satisfying, warming dinner. You can also serve it on its own with just gravy if you are on a low carb or keto diet.

    The gravy is flavourful, rich, and delicious. I have made this without mushrooms but you can add mushrooms if you'd like. This is a favorite beef recipe and I have no doubts you'll love it.

    This recipe is based on using instant pot duo 7 in 1 6 quart. You can make it in any other electric pressure cooker but cooking time may vary.

    This beef tips in instant pot recipe is high in protein, low carb, healthy and nutritious. Let me show you how to make it.

    Beef tips

    Onion

    Garlic

    Ginger

    Black pepper

    Paprika

    Thyme 

    Oil - You can use vegetable oil, olive oil, coconut oil.

    Beef broth

    Red wine

    Worcester sauce

    Cornflour

    Salt

    Mushrooms - Add mushrooms to make beef tips and mushroom gravy.

    How To Make Beef Tips In Instant Pot

    Add the diced beef tips to a bowl then add thyme, paprika, parsley, black pepper, onion granules, garlic granules, and salt. Mix till well combined.

    If you have the time, let the beef marinate for at least 30 minutes.

    Set the instant pot to saute. Add olive oil in the pot of the instant pot then add in the onions and garlic. Saute for about 2 minutes. 

    ]dd the seasoned beef and brown the sides. 

    Switch off the instant pot saute function. Add beef broth to the pot and deglaze the instant pot.

    Cover the instant pot with its lid, turn the knob into the sealing position, and set it to manual pressure cook on high for 15 minutes then do a quick pressure release.

    When the pot is depressurized, open the lid then set the instant pot to saute function.

    Pour cornflour slurry into the pot and stir till the gravy thickens then switch off the instant pot.

    How Long To Cook Beef Tips In Instant Pot

    How long to cook beef tips in instant pot is 15-20 minutes based on cutting the beef into 1-1.5 inch cubes and cooking on high pressure cook.

    Beef tips are cooked when the meat is tender, and the internal temperature when checked with an instant meat thermometer is at least 165F.

    You can cut into a beef tip to have a visual for doneness.

    Rice such as instant pot jasmine rice or instant pot brown rice

    Potatoes like mashed potatoes, instant pot roast potatoes, air fryer diced potatoes

    Vegetables like instant pot cabbage, pan fried vegetables, and instant pot carrots

    Pasta like boiled pasta, spaghetti, spicy pasta

    Tips For Making Instant Pot Beef Tips

    • Adjust cayenne or black pepper according to how spicy you want the pressure cooker beef tips.
    • Use a good cut of meat.
    • To avoid a burn error notice, remember to deglaze the pot after browning the meat and ensure no brown bits are sticking to the bottom of the pot.
    • Where beef broth is unavailable, replace it with beef bouillon cubes plus water. This ensures flavorful beef tips and gravy.

    How To Store

    Beef tips and gravy stores and reheat well. To store, leave to cool completely, put in an airtight container, label, and store in the fridge where It will last for up to 4 days.

    In the freezer – It will last for up to 6 months.

    It’s best to portion per serving so you can bring it out when needed, defrost, reheat, and enjoy.

    Equipment

    • Instant pot pressure cooker

    Ingredients

    • 1 kg (2 lb) Beef tips sirlion beef tips, tenderloin tips or any cut beef tips cut in 1 inch cubes.
    • 2 tablespoon Ginger minced
    • 1 medium Onion chopped
    • 4 cloves Garlic minced
    • 1 teaspoon Black pepper or to taste
    • 1 tablespoon Parsley
    • 1 teaspoon Smoked paprika
    • 1 teaspoon Thyme
    • 2.5 cups Breef broth
    • ¼ cup Red wine substitute beef broth
    • 2 tablespoon Oil vegetable, olive or sunflower oil
    • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 2 tablespoon Cornflour mix with 2 tablespoon beef broth to form cornflour slurry

    Instructions

    • Season beef tips with thyme, parsley, paprika, black pepper and salt.
    •  Set instant pot to saute. Add oil in the pot of the instant pot then add in the onions, ginger and garlic. Saute for about 2 minutes. 
    • Add the seasoned beef and brown the sides. 
    • Switch off instant pot saute function. Add red wine, worcester sauce and beef broth in the pot and deglaze the instant pot. 
    • Cover instant pot with it's lid, turn knob into sealing position and set to manual pressure cook on high for 15 minutes then do quick pressure release.
    • When the pot depressurised, open the lid then set instant pot to saute function.
    • Pour cornflour slurry in the pot and stir till gravy thickens to consistency you want then take off heat.
    • Servbe on rice, mashed potatoes, pasta or any side of choice.

    Notes

    • I like my beef tips with a bit of bite. If you want more tender, add additional 5 minutes to the pressure cooking time.
