Roll the lemons on the worktop in a circular motion or roll between your palms. This is so they are easy to juice.
Cut each lemons into 2 equal parts and juice.
Pour the freshly squeezed lemon juice into a pitcher then add in 2 liters of cold water.Add in the sliced lemons (Optional) and sugar if using.
Stir well and put in the fridge to chill for atleast 30 minutes or immediately serve on ice.
Notes
Add more water if you feel the juice is too concentrated.
Make it sugar-free or adjust the quantity of sugar to suit how sweet you want it.
Lemons contain citric acid which may erode tooth enamel. To limit the risk of tooth eroding from the citric acid, drink lemon water through a straw and rinse your mouth with plain water after drinking.
You can substitute sugar for honey or other healthier sweetener.
If freezing the juice, remove lemon slices or any garnish before doing so.
