    Easy Mongolian Ground Beef Recipe

This savory and sweet easy Mongolian ground beef recipe is simple, and you get a homemade restaurant quality beef dinner for a fraction of the takeout cost.

It is easy to cook and perfect for busy weeknights when you want something yummy but quick. A few ingredients, simple cooking, 20 minutes, and you have protein-packed, delicious Mongolian beef with ground beef.

Classic Mongolian beef is made with steak cut thinly, but this is made with ground beef/minced beef. Minced beef is budget-friendly, readily available in stores, and quicker to cook than steak strips.

My family loves this Chinese American dish, and we like serving Mongolian minced beef with rice. My second daughter likes it with noodles or served over pasta. It is one of our favorite ground beef recipes.

It is budget friendly, nutrient-packed, comforting, and delicious. You'll be surprised at how quick and easy it is to make. Let me show you!

Ground beef - This is also called minced beef, steak mince, or beef mince.

Onion - Finely chopped brown or yellow onion.

    Garlic - Minced or pureed

    Ginger - Minced or pureed

Spring onions- This is also known as green onions or scallions.

    Black pepper

    Hoisin sauce

    Brown sugar

Sesame oil - A little goes a long way in the flavor profile of this dish.

    Serving Suggestion

I like serving Mongolian ground beef with rice. Plain boiled rice, yellow rice, egg fried rice, and jasmine rice are some that pair well with it.
Other sides that you can serve with it are:
Noodles, spaghetti, fettuccine, and other pastas
Vegetables like pan fried carrots, pan seared vegetables, boiled broccoli, and roasted veggies.

It can also be served with mashed potatoes or boiled potatoes.

    Storage and Reheating

Transfer Mongolian beef to an airtight container, label, and store in the fridge for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
It can be reheated in a pan on the stove or in a microwave-safe bowl in the microwave.
If too thick, add a bit of water to loosen the sauce up when reheating.

    • Use lean mince so it's not oily. If you use mince with more than 15 percent fat, after browning the mince, drain the oil.
    • Adjust the pepper, garlic, and salt to your taste.
    • If you like it saucy, you can add a bit more water or stock to the sauce or double the sauce recipe.
    • If you like meal prepping, you can make it ahead and store it in the fridge.
    • It's best served hot.
