This easy comfort food use few ingredients, it's quick and ready in less than an hour.
Ingredients
Mince - I used beef mince also known as ground beef or steak mince but you can also use turkey mince, chicken mince, pork, or lamb mince. I like to use low fat between 5-20% fat. You can also make your own minced meat at home.
Pasta - Short pasta works best for this recipe. I have used penne but you can also use gnocchi, macaroni, rigatoni, farfalle, fusilli.
Onion
Garlic
Chopped Tomatoes
Oregano
Basil
Thyme
Pepper - Black pepper, chili or cayenne pepper.
Beef bouillion or beef stockpot
Salt
Olive oil
Grated Cheese - Mozarella or cheddar. I like to use mature cheddar as it's more flavorful than Mozarella. You can also add a bit of parmesan for more flavor.

How to Store
If making ahead, you can store the mince and pasta mix without the cheese in the fridge or freezer then when ready to eat, bring it out and put it in a baking dish, top with cheese then bake it in the oven. That way it will last in the fridge for up to 4 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
If already topped with cheese and baked, you can still store it in the fridge for up to 2 days or in the freezer for a month.
It can be reheated in the oven. To reheat, place in a casserole dish and bake in the oven at a temperature of 200C/400F for 5 minutes or till heated through.
Tips
- Don't overcook the pasta. Cook 2 minutes less than the recommended time on the package as it will continue cooking in the oven.
- Adjust pepper to taste.
- You can substitute the herbs for a tablespoon of Italian seasoning.
- Use Gluten free pasta to make it gluten free.
- To make it healthier, use lean beef mince or minced turkey.
