Lemon
Water
Mint (Optional)
How To Make Lemon Water
Wash the Lemon and slice it into thin rounds.
Add into a pitcher then add water to the pitcher (I like to squeeze the juice of 2 slices into the pitcher for a more concentrated lemon taste).
Stir and put it in the fridge to infuse and chill.
It can also be served over ice. Allow at least 10 minutes to infuse.
Hot Lemon Water
You can make it hot lemon water. This is especially good for winter days as it warms you up, and helps with cold. With hot water, the lemon infuses more and faster than in cold or room temperature water. Drinking it hot warms up the body.
To make it, add lemon slices to a mug, then add hot water. Stir, and let it infuse for a few minutes before drinking.
You can add other ingredients like ginger, and mint to taste.
VARIATIONS
- Add cucumber slices for more nutrients.
- You can add other citrus fruits like orange and clementine.
- Add fresh ginger for a slightly different taste and to get the benefits of ginger.
- Include a few fresh mint leaves for a minty flavor.
- Combine with pineapple for a fruity taste.
How To Store
It will last up to 2 days in the fridge but the longer it's kept, the more infused it is and it can turn bitter.
It can be stored for longer in the freezer. Take out the lemon slices, put the water in a freezer-safe container, then put it in the freezer where it will last for up to 6 months.
Tips For Making Lemon Infused Water
- Remove seeds from the lemon.
- Let the lemon infuse in water for at least 10 minutes before drinking it.
- You can adjust the quantity of lemon to your desired taste.
