How Long To Cook Trout In Air Fryer
This depends on the state of the Trout whether it's fresh or frozen, the size, and thickness, and if they are fillets, steaks, or whole trout. The air fryer type, wattage, and temperature are also factors that determine the cooking time.
The thicker the fish the longer it takes to cook. Fish fillets will cook quicker than steaks and whole Trout will take longer to cook than steaks and fillets. Another thing to note is frozen Trout will take longer to cook than cooking it fresh.
How long to cook Trout in the air fryer is 8-10 minutes at a temperature of 400F. If cooked at a lower temperature, it will take longer to cook. For example, cooking trout at 380F will take about 10-12 minutes.
I didn't preheat the air fryer for this recipe. If you preheat the air fryer, the fish might cook faster so check a couple of minutes before the end of the cooking time suggested.
Trout is cooked when the inside is pinkish, and tender and flakes easily when a fork is inserted. It will be firm to the touch and the skin crispy.
If checked with an instant thermometer the internal temperature at the thickest part should be at least 140F.
Note that Air fryers vary by brand and output which makes some hotter than others. If cooking a recipe for the first time, start with the lower and adjust accordingly.

You don't need to flip fish in the air fryer and I haven't done so for this recipe however if you prefer to flip, gently do so with a spatula so as to avoid the fish breaking apart. Cook with the skin side down.

You can eat both ways. If eating with skin, ensure the skin has been descaled and well cleaned. The skin contains nutrients that are beneficial to the body. When cooking in the air fryer, cook with the skin side down.
